Research Topics

  • Stochastic prediction of utility demand – electric power, natural gas, hot water, thermal requirement, city water etc – in urban area
  • Forcing effects on momentum, heat and passive scalars enhanced by urban surface layer
  • Development of passive cooling & heating systems for eco-oriented buildings
  • Dynamical mechanism of emerging cooperation in human social systems

Research Outline

I was originally specialized on building physics, in which I have been concerned on various studies, for example, developing passive cooling and heating systems and so forth. Being interested in what happens if one considers interactive dynamics amid buildings or between buildings and urban atmosphere, I noticed my expertise has to be extended to urban climatology. Recently when I recognized that what is called environmental problems has resulted from quite wide range of layers, I started to study complex science so as to model human decision-making process, which might help to pose a certain meaningful provisions for aiming eco-oriented and sustainable society in our future.

We do need to model any environmental systems as Human – Environmental – Social System.

We apply real scale outdoor experiment, wind tunnel experiment and computer fluid dynamics (CFD) to approach urban climatology.
